Evelyn La Starza is an Italian abstract painter based in northern Italy. Working primarily on large-scale canvases, she creates expressive paintings built through layers of color, gesture, marks, and handwritten text.
Her practice is rooted in intuition, yet guided by a strong sense of structure. Through vibrant color relationships and energetic mark-making, she explores emotional landscapes, memory, and the tension between what is felt and what can be expressed in words.
Nature often serves as a starting point—not as direct representation, but as rhythm, movement, and energy translated into abstract form. Fragments of text appear throughout her work as traces of thought, adding intimacy and narrative while remaining open to interpretation.
Originally self-taught, La Starza spent many years working in design before returning fully to painting. This background continues to inform her sensitivity to composition, balance, and visual language.
Alongside her studio practice, she is interested in the relationship between creativity, emotional awareness, and human connection. She also co-creates, with her partner, a creative space dedicated to sensitive, queer, and neurodivergent people.
Her work is held in private collections internationally.
